City Council Beat
City Council
In this beat, our class traveled to a city council meeting to hear how community members get involved and how they are able to bring their issues to light. Upon going to the City Council Meeting, our class had Mayor Rob Green visit our class and talk to us about his current mayoral duties, his life, how he expects this next election to go, and what he has learned in the past with his regrets and successes as mayor.
The City Council beat opened my eyes to how important it is to be involved with the city you reside in. Being a college student in a college town, there are things that I have wondered about and why certain issues haven't been taken care of. I have learned that in order to have changed and get answers to questions I have, it's best to get involved and as Jenny Leeper says, "You can't complain if you don't get involved."
