I was given two weeks to create two stories revolving around a Courthouse Beat. Cedar Falls Chief of Police, Craig Berte, was a guest in our class and we got very valuable information from him regarding his history and expertise as well as basic knowledge of the Cedar Falls Police Force. I also had the opportunity to visit the BlackHawk County Courthouse where the class and I sat in on a murder trial that had happened last year in Waterloo, IA.

From these two experiences, I wrote one story that highlights the diversity of the Cedar Falls Police Department and Cheif Craig Berte's interview with the class. The second story I wrote illustrates the Murder Trial, who is involved, the background stories to both sides, and what happened while I was at the courthouse.
